Description The March 9th WISE meeting will feature presentations from two of Colorados most exciting startup companies, New Sky Energy and Cool Energy. Both of the companies were finalists in the prestigious 2009 Clean Tech Open competition (http://www.cleantechopen.com), an innovation catalyst that helps great ideas become viable clean tech businesses. Dr. Deane Little is the inventor and co-founder of New Sky Energy, a Boulder-based clean tech company. Dr. Little has developed a process that captures carbon dioxide from the air or from manufacturing processes and converts it into a safe, stable solid which can be used to create building products like bricks and wall board. This new process is unique in that it does not produce the toxic materials and waste water byproducts that conventional CO2 conversion processes create. Leslie Weise is Vice President of Legal and Policy Affairs of Cool Energy, a renewable energy equipment supplier of distributed power systems in Boulder, Colorado. The company has developed a combined heating and electrical power generation system called the SolarFlow System. This system combines solar collectors and a Stirling engine generator to enable a single solar system to provide 80% of the heating needs, 60% of the electricity needs and nearly all of the hot water for a residence while emitting no greenhouse gases. Both speakers will talk about their unique products and the challenges they have encountered bringing their ideas from research and development to manufacturing and eventually to the market. Free for paid members; non-member price- $5
